Expansion continues in Wiltwyck. A new chicken pen is under construction.

Patroon’s Report: Two new uneducated settlers joined us from New Amsterdam. We’ve settled upon a town council for a governing system. Only men who have are original settlers, or are born and educated here, and have reached the age of 25 will be eligible to hold a council seat. All men who have reached 16 years of age will be given the ability to vote. The first election will be held following the completion of the census of 1661. Three offices will be up for bid, with a term of service of three, four and five years, respectively. After the fifth year, each term will be for three years. As the Patroon appointed by the Director General of the colony, I am not exposed to needing election and will maintain this post at the discretion of the Director General. There was bad weather gain last year, causing us to once again dip into our food reserves. We still have more than a year’s worth left, but we’re looking to rebound in the coming year. We’ll be looking to begin upgrading the existing wooden houses to ones made of stone. Our first students will graduate this year, bolstering the workforce and allowing us to begin further expansion.
