The new chicken pen

Patroon’s Report: Hostilities with the natives have come to an end, with a new treaty signed. While there is a mutual mistrust between our peoples, we do expect they will honor their end of the deal as we honor ours. We are free to expand the town much further inland now.  This comes not a moment too soon, as we spent too much time worrying about defense and safety and lost many, many crops and a large portion of our food reserves when another early winter set upon us. We’ve received word that a new family is on their way to settle here, fleeing the insanity that seems to have engulfed the leadership of New Amsterdam. We received no visits from traders last year as many think it’s just not safe to venture up river. Evelt Aerts will be up for re-election in the fall. No one has yet declared an interest in contesting him.
