Mayor’s Report: The Dutch have won the war with England, but have traded the New Netherland colony for more profitable colonies in the Caribbean. News came through late in the year that though we are now subjects of the realm, we will be free to maintain our culture. Freedom of religion has been promised us. We’ve only been asked to remove one Dutch flag, the one by the Town Hall. In other places, we now fly both flags. The council remains intact. We will hold new elections this year, again for the three, four and five year terms. I have been removed as Patroon, but remain as Mayor. I will need to run for re-election every five years. That will begin for a new term starting in 1670. With the new stability, we were able to bring in a bountiful harvest and augment our food reserves. We’ll be finishing off the quarry this year, and building and upgrading houses. .
