20 Settlers arrive at Wiltwyck on the western bank of the North River

Patroon’s Report:

Eight families have arrived on the western shore of the North River, at the point where the Esopus Creek joins. A large tract of land has been obtained from the local indigenous tribe. It is 60 miles north to Fort Orange and Beverwyck, and 90 miles south to New Amsterdam.
The leader of the colony is Ishaad Baerents, 21, son of one of the councilmen in New Amsterdam. He is accompanied by his wife, Artha, 20. A council will be formed after the initial tasks at hand are completed to perform the day-to-day governance of the town in accordance with the regulations of the New Netherland Province.

Also with the new settlers are:
Evelt (20) & Roberty (19) Aerts; Ernice (20) & Saraina (20) Chambers, with sister Armine (6) in tow;
Ranson (19) & Reillye (20) Foure, with younger brother Laver (7); Thadd (19) & Jemmaline (20) Gysbert, with son Galentice (4);
Callison (20) & Jerryl (20) Heymans; Kings (19) & Maliya (19) Jacobs, with sister Vanesha (7); Andro (20) & Earthena (20) Postmael

All 16 adults are fully educated. The 4 children will enter school when they reach 10 years of age. Schooling usually lasts between 5 and 6 years of age.
The first order of business is to establish crop fields, a sheep pen, fishing hut, fuel source and then housing. Initial plans call for a small settlement between the farms and fishing village, with the rest of the houses to be constructed in the town center area, which will be just northwest.
