A second port was constructed last year, just down river from the original.
Patroon’s Report:
The war hit closer to home this past year. A Dutch fleet re-captured New York and we once again find ourselves a Dutch possession.  Against my advice, the council decided to strike the English flags from town. I am not opposed to removing them, but want to wait until the war came to a conclusion before acting.

Death visited our town for the first time, when young Ottie Pierssen, 12, was crushed by a rock while working in the quarry. There are some who claim it was not an accident, but a ploy but the Dutch (or the English) depending on who is telling you their story.

Last year’s weather was exceptionally mild, which gave us enough time to bring in the harvest when we weren’t trying to watch for signs of conflict. As a result, we had just a slight shortfall in what we produced compared to what we consumed.

Despite the situation, we conducted trade with two merchants who called on our ports. It was decided midway through the year last year that a second port was desperately needed, so it was constructed just downriver from the first. It will be stocked with Firewood and Wool Coats and Ale for now, but we will begin to produce Mead for export in that port over the next few years.

We’re also upgrading our original blacksmith’s shop to a larger version so that we can keep up with the demand for tools. We’re exploring buying coal to make newer, more durable steel tools, but none has yet been offered in trade and we do not have the manpower to mine it ourselves.

Now that I am once again Patroon, I do not need to be exposed to election, but I will put my seat up for bid, anyways. Kings Jacobs’ council seat is also up for election at the end of this year.
